Prantesh Jain, Assistant Professor of Oncology, Thoracic Oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“Three convictions guide how I treat SCLC
- Every patient with SCLC deserves a clinical trial conversation, early and not only after standard therapy fails.
- Next-generation immunotherapy, including T-cell engagers and antibody-drug conjugates, is redefining what is possible. The next gains will come from rational combinations and precision oncology.
- Patient-centered supportive care is what makes novel therapy deliverable, especially for the sickest patients.
My patient’s story, featured by Roswell Park, reflects all three. She came to us with stage 4 SCLC, failing kidneys, and a walker, after months of feeling unheard.
Today, on a phase 1 trial of a novel T-cell engager-based combination, she has no evidence of disease progression and is planning beach vacations with her three grandsons.
This is why we build early-phase programs: to bring tomorrow’s therapies to patients today.
Grateful to my patient for sharing her journey, and to our palliative care, nursing, and research teams at Roswell.”
