Pavlina Lenga, Neurosurgeon at the University Hospital Heidelberg, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper she co-authored with colleagues published in Neurosurgical Review:
“Happy to share our new publication in Neurosurgical Review from the Department of Neurosurgery Heidelberg in collaboration with Neuropathology Heidelberg (Felix Sahm).
In a cohort of 32 adults with pilocytic astrocytoma, infratentorial tumors were associated with higher surgical risks and lower rates of gross-total resection, while recurrence (~50%) correlated with higher Ki-67 rather than extent of resection.
Biological differences to pediatric cases included BRAF alterations only in a subset and the occurrence of HGAP accounting for disease-specific mortality.”
