Mohamed Abazeed, Professor and Chair of Radiation Oncology at Northwestern Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“An exciting advance from our colleagues at Northwestern Medicine.
Published today in JAMA, this study demonstrates that, in carefully selected patients with treatment-refractory, lung-limited non-small cell lung cancer, lung transplantation can improve survival, challenging long-held assumptions about what is possible for advanced lung cancer.
Congratulations to the outstanding multidisciplinary team whose vision and collaboration made this landmark work possible. I’m grateful to work alongside colleagues who continue to expand what’s possible for our patients through innovation and collaboration.”
