Michael Sapienza: Predicting Where Cancer May Return After Liver Metastases

Michael Sapienza, Chief Executive Officer of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, shared on LinkedIn:

“Cancer does not stand still. Our approach to treating it shouldn’t either.

New research published in npj Precision Oncology from a team at Johns Hopkins University is an example of how we can begin thinking differently about colorectal cancer care.

The researchers developed models that can predict where disease is most likely to recur in patients whose cancer has spread to the liver, and the models can be updated over time as new patient information becomes available. Nature

That is an important shift. That is what innovation looks like.

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance supported this research through Project Cure CRC. Better data and better decisions can help move care toward more individualized follow-up and treatment strategies. Nature

Congratulations to Eric Christenson and the entire Johns Hopkins team on this work.
