“Over the past few years, we have witnessed a major shift in the treatment of early breast cancer. Neoadjuvant strategies have demonstrated substantial clinical benefit, particularly in triple-negative and HER2-positive disease. More recently, the addition of ICI to standard chemotherapy has become a new standard of care in early TNBC, with a significant improvement in overall survival.
Despite these advances, many questions remain.
- How can we better identify the patients who will benefit most?
- Which biomarkers should guide treatment decisions?
- Can we optimize treatment intensity and develop more effective combination strategies?
In this new review, Manon de Graaf provides a comprehensive overview of neoadjuvant immunotherapy across breast cancer subtypes, discussing the current evidence, emerging biomarkers, and future opportunities to further improve patient outcomes.
