Jesse Boehm: Announcing the HCMI Release of 665 Organoids and Other Next Generation Models

Jesse Boehm, Senior Vice President, Chief Science Officer in Break Through Cancer, Principal Investigator in MIT, shared on LinkedIn:

”Hot off the press in Nature!

After 10 years, 2,780 patients and 300+ scientists, today we announce the Human Cancer Models Initiative (HCMI) release of 665 organoids and other next generation models! All models and data available to accelerate cancer drug discovery!

Together with two companion papers from colleagues Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, The Cancer Dependency Map (DepMap), and Wellcome Sanger Institute these manuscripts collectively demonstrate the power of organoid models to drive the Cancer Dependency Map forward.

Collaborators across the globe, including Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, Center for Patient Derived ModelsDana-Farber Cancer Institute, Wellcome Sanger Institute, MIT Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, Van Andel Institute, Columbia University, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Rare Cancer Research Foundation, ATCC and many others made this possible!

All models available at ATCC, data at NCI’s Genomic Data Commons.

This project is dedicated to Daniela S. Gerhard, the Director of NCI’s Office of Cancer Genomics, who passed away in 2021. The project is a result of her vision and stringent dedication to quality and to detailed oversight, implementing every process requisite to completing this work.”
