“Alex Potter, Quiana Guo and our team just published in Chest an analysis of 3 large cohort studies showing that the 2021 USPSTF lung cancer screening criteria miss many patients diagnosed with early- or late-stage lung cancer.
For example, they found that among nearly 15,000 patients with lung cancer, only 41% to 59% of patients with late-stage lung cancer would have met the 2021 USPSTF recommendation for lung cancer screening. Far too many high-risk individuals remain ineligible for screening under current guidelines.”
