“Delighted to share our new consensus paper, just published in Therapeutic Advances in Medical Oncology.
Datopotamab deruxtecan (Dato-DXd), a TROP2-directed antibody-drug conjugate, is reshaping the treatment landscape in advanced NSCLC. But realising its benefit for patients depends on how well we anticipate and manage its side effects.
Our international steering committee – medical oncologists, ophthalmologists and pulmonologists across nine countries – used a Delphi process to reach consensus on 55 recommendations covering the adverse events that matter most in practice: oral mucositis/stomatitis, interstitial lung disease/pneumonitis, ocular surface events, and nausea and vomiting.
Three themes ran through all of them:
- Prevention starts before the first dose – baseline assessment, patient and caregiver education, clear communication.
- Early detection changes outcomes – regular monitoring and a low threshold for specialist referral.
- No one specialty manages this alone – genuine multidisciplinary collaboration protects patients’ quality of life.
