Giuseppe Caruso: KEYTRUDA Improves Progression-Free Survival in Frontline dMMR Endometrial Cancer

Giuseppe Caruso, Gynecology Oncology Specialist at European Institute of Oncology, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Exciting news in gynecologic oncology!

The Phase 3 KEYNOTE-C93 trial showed that KEYTRUDA® (pembrolizumab) significantly improved progression-free survival (PFS) versus platinum-based chemotherapy in patients with frontline dMMR advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC).

This is the first Phase 3 study to demonstrate the benefit of PD-1 inhibitor monotherapy in the frontline setting for MMRd EC, potentially offering a chemotherapy-free option for these patients. The interim analysis also showed a positive trend in overall survival (OS), with no new safety signals.

One very important consideration: as is increasingly the case in oncology, the control arm reflects a previous standard of care. Today, the more relevant comparator would likely be chemoimmunotherapy rather than chemotherapy alone. That said, these are still highly encouraging results and an exciting signal for patients and the field.”
