Fumiko Ladd Chino: Developing a simplified financial toxicity screening tool for use in clinical practice
Fumiko Ladd Chino, Attending Radiation Oncologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center, shared a recent article by her and colleagues on X:
“Financial Toxicity screening at scale is essential to ensure we identify (and HELP) people at risk for financial harm before they are harmed.
This study of >38,000 patients shows that the validated COST tool can be simplified to questions for easier integration into clinical workflows.
This analysis of a large data set finds that a simplified COST tool has a high predictive value when compared with the fully validated measure. An abbreviated COST measure of two questions is suitable for implementation into clinical screening workflows.”
