“Adding etoposide to a brentuximab vedotin-based regimen shows promising activity in previously untreated CD30-positive peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL).
In this ecancer interview from EHA2026, Prof Marek Trněný (Charles University) discusses results from the phase 2 CHEPA study evaluating etoposide plus brentuximab vedotin and CHP in transplant-eligible patients with CD30-positive PTCL.
Key findings include:
- A 91% overall response rate
- A 76% complete metabolic response rate
- Particularly strong outcomes in patients with ALCL
- Encouraging progression-free and overall survival at a median follow-up of 19 months
- ctDNA levels correlated with disease burden, suggesting potential future prognostic value
Although grade 3–4 haematologic toxicities were common, treatment was manageable, with no treatment-related deaths and no severe neuropathy reported.
These findings suggest that adding etoposide to the brentuximab vedotin backbone may enhance anti-lymphoma activity while maintaining an acceptable safety profile in transplant-eligible patients with CD30-positive PTCL.
