Alina Comanescu, Vice Chair of the Board at Digestive Cancers Europe, shared on LinkedIn:
“Our research on HPV vaccination is now published in BMJ Public Health.
I am very pleased to share that our research, “What are the barriers and enablers to the uptake of the HPV vaccine in Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia? A mixed methods systematic review”, has been published in BMJ Public Health.
The study brings together evidence from three European countries to better understand what prevents people from accessing HPV vaccination – and, importantly, what can help increase uptake.
HPV vaccination is one of the most powerful tools we have to prevent HPV-related cancers. Yet vaccination coverage remains uneven, and understanding the barriers faced by communities, families and healthcare professionals is essential if we want to turn policy commitments into real-world protection.
This publication is the result of a great deal of dedication, collaboration and hard work by the entire research team. I am grateful to everyone who contributed their expertise, time and commitment to this work.
For me, the publication is not only an academic achievement. It is another step towards a future in which every eligible person has equitable access to HPV vaccination, receives clear and trustworthy information, and can benefit from the protection it offers.
My hope is that the evidence from this research will contribute to stronger policies, better communication and more effective vaccination programs in Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia – and ultimately to higher HPV vaccination uptake across our countries.
Because preventing HPV-related cancers starts with prevention today.”
