The trial failed to show a DFS benefit of intensification of adjuvant chemotherapy with mFOLFOXIRI in high risk stage 3 colon cancer.
Where to next…
The phase III IROCAS trial evaluated whether intensifying adjuvant chemotherapy with mFOLFOXIRI could improve outcomes in patients with high-risk stage III colon cancer. The results showed no improvement in disease-free survival compared with standard mFOLFOX6, with 3-year DFS rates of 65.6% and 66.3%, respectively. The findings raise important questions about the role of chemotherapy intensification in this setting and highlight the need for more effective strategies to reduce recurrence risk.
