Christian Ntizimira, Executive Director of ACREOL, Board of Directors of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), shared on LinkedIn:
“Thank You! From Rwanda to the Global Stage!
I am deeply honored and humbled to have been elected to the Board of Directors of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) for 2026 – 2028!
But this victory is not mine alone. It belongs to all of us!
To every UICC member organization that placed its trust in me and supported my candidacy, Thank you! Your vote is more than a vote of confidence. It is an opportunity to amplify voices, perspectives, and experiences that deserve a place in shaping the future of global cancer care.
To my incredible team at ACREOL Global, thank you for your tireless dedication, encouragement, and belief in our shared vision. You are the heartbeat of this journey!
To my mentors, colleagues, friends, partners, and everyone who stood behind this candidacy, your support means more than words can express.
As a palliative care physician from Rwanda, I carry into this new responsibility a simple conviction: Cancer care is not only about adding years to life but also about adding life, dignity, and meaning to those years.
I look forward to working alongside fellow Board members and the UICC community to advance equitable, culturally responsive, people-centred cancer care, where supportive and palliative care are not afterthoughts but essential parts of oncology.
Our African philosophy of Ubuntu reminds us: ‘I am because we are.’
Today, I celebrate not how far I have come, but how far we can go together.
The next chapter begins!”
