Diagnostics Can Be The Key That Unlocks Treatment for Thousands – The Max Foundation
The Max Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“In 2009, our CEO Pat Garcia-Gonzalez met one of only two hematologists in Ethiopia at that time. She thanked him for the opportunity to help over 200 patients access treatment through our program.
His response shook her:
“For those 200 patients, I had 400 more who didn’t have a house to sell to afford the $600 it cost to send their blood to Germany for diagnosis.”
That moment revealed a harsh reality: access to treatment means nothing without tandem access to diagnosis.
Two years later through a partnership with Cepheid, we were able to bring a GeneXpert to Addis Ababa and secured tests for the Black Lion Hospital – because no one should be denied a chance at life due to the cost of a test.
This is why we got involved in diagnostics. But we can’t do it alone.
Diagnostics can be the key that unlocks treatment for thousands. Join us in building a world where no one goes untreated due to lack of a diagnosis.”
