We are proud to announce that Editor-in-Chief & Co-Founder of OncoDaily, Gevorg Tamamyan, has been selected to receive the 2026 Global Health Catalyst Distinguished Leader Award.
The Global Health Catalyst Awards have been presented since 2015 to distinguished leaders whose work has made a significant local and global impact in oncology and health. The awards recognize individuals, ideas, and initiatives contributing to the advancement of global health, cancer care, and economic development.
The award will be presented during the Global Health Catalyst Summit 2026, taking place September 18–21 at Harvard/MIT. Dr. Tamamyan was selected by the Global Health Catalyst Awards Committee, comprising members of the Organizing Committee and previous award recipients.
Gevorg Tamamyan, MD, MSc, PhD, DSc, FASCO, is the Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of OncoDaily and CEO of P53 Inc. He is the CEO and co-founder of the Immune Oncology Research Institute (IMMONC). He is a global leader in oncology, health systems strengthening, and international health cooperation, recognized for building bridges between countries and advancing equitable cancer care in resource-limited settings.
Dr. Tamamyan was elected and currently serves as President of two major international pediatric oncology societies — the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) Asia Continental Branch, representing pediatric oncology professionals across Asia, and the Pediatric Oncology East & Mediterranean (POEM) Group, uniting 28 countries and 110 cancer centers. He later became Co-Chair of the St. Jude EURO Regional Advisory Committee, encompassing 13 European countries.
At 32, Dr. Tamamyan was appointed Head of the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia, where he led the consolidation of previously fragmented pediatric oncology and hematology services into a single national center. Under his leadership, the center evolved into a regional reference point, with survival rates reaching up to 80%. He also co-founded a national pediatric cancer charity, City of Smile, ensuring universal coverage for diagnosis and treatment for every child and young adult in Armenia.
Dr. Tamamyan is a Professor and Chairman of Hematology and Pediatric Oncology at Yerevan State Medical University, Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Cancer and Crisis, and adviser to the University’s Rector. He previously served as President of the Harvard Club of Armenia. Educated and trained across seven countries in Europe, North America, and Asia, his professional trajectory spans frontline clinical practice, research, academic leadership, national center executive leadership, global health diplomacy, and institution building.
He is a recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, including Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (FASCO), ASCO LIFe and IDEA, UICC and IARC Young Leader Awards, the 2026 Global Health Catalyst Distinguished Leader Award, the SLACOM 2026 Award for Global Oncology Leadership by the Latin American and Caribbean Society of Medical Oncology, and the 40 under 40 in Cancer Award.
He is married and has two daughters: Charlize and Letizia.
