“On 22 September, CUHK Medicine welcomed a delegation from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU Munich), Germany, comprising experts in cardiology, physiology, AI in medicine, and public health.
Among them, Dr. Stefanie Fenske (Group Leader, Depatment of Pharmacy) visited the Microscopy and Imaging Core Facility at the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building and met with professors from the School of Biomedical Sciences.
She later delivered a lecture at the Lui Che Woo Clinical Sciences Building entitled ‘CRISPRa-mediated Gene Activation of Calsequestrin 2 Suppresses Arrhythmic Phenotypes in Mouse and Human Models of Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia’, sharing the latest developments in gene therapy research.
Other delegation members, Prof. Karin Christine Huth (Professor, Department of Conservative Dentistry and Periodontologyand Digital Dentistry) and Dr. Linda Sanftenberg (Senior Scientist, Institute of General Practice and Family Medicine), met respectively with the Institute for AI and XR in Medicine and the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, CUHK to discuss topics related to digital health and public health.
The delegation subsequently met with Dr. Wong Wai Tat, Co-Director of the Centre for Medical and Healthcare Education, to gain insights into the Faculty’s innovative applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR) in medical education and to learn from its practical experience in these areas.
The visit further strengthened the strategic partnership between CU Medicine and LMU Munich. As partner members of the Global Alliance of Medical Excellence (GAME), both institutions share a commitment to advancing international collaboration in medicine.
