Melanoma Advances at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center: New Trials, Therapies, and Diagnostics
Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Doctors and researchers at Sylvester are making significant strides in the treatment of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer – especially as cases continue to rise.
In the lab, Dr. Barbara Bedogni’s team has developed a novel, neutralizing antibody to improve the response to immunotherapy. They recently published these promising findings in the Journal of Experimental and Clinical Cancer Research.
In the clinic, melanoma expert Dr. Jose Lutzky leads a team treating around 550 patients each year and running approximately 15 clinical trials. “We are one of the most active centers in the country in the treatment of melanoma, having options for patients at all stages of the disease and particularly for uveal melanoma,” he said.
Dr. Bedogni’s lab is also collaborating with Dr. Brian Morrison on nail melanoma, aiming to develop a less invasive diagnostic test using nail clippings instead of biopsies.
Learn more about how Sylvester is shaping the future of skin cancer treatment.”
