Jill Feldman, Lung cancer Patient and Advocate, Co-Founder of EGFR Resisters, shared this post on X, adding:
“Thank you, Laura Petrillo, for your creativity and leadership in addressing the unique needs of people with oncogene-driven NSCLC.
Traditionally, supportivecare has been limited to patients who complete definitive therapy, and utilization of palliative care in oncogene-driven NSCLC remains low.
POISE acknowledges that this patient population requires a blend of palliative and survivorship care interventions.
POISE is holistic and addresses many key aspects of the lived experience:
- Living with uncertainty
- Distress related to uncertainty
- Lack of discussion around prognosis
- Unmet needs for support
It also specifically aims to improve emotional coping and offers a proactive, structured intervention to increase QOL – huge unmet need in our community.”
