Erika Hamilton Expresses Gratitude to ASCO Team For ASCO 2025 Annual Meeting

Erika Hamilton, Medical Oncologist and the Director of Breast Cancer Program at the Sarah Cannon Research Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Well, ASCO25 is a wrap. As I fly home this morning, thinking of all the “thanks for a great meeting”s Robin Zon, Cardinale B. Smith, and I have gotten. Those comments are so appreciated, but we aren’t the magic behind ASCO.
The secret sauce of the Annual Meeting is easily the American Society of Clinical Oncology team. They work so hard and are absolutely fantastic.
First, thanks to Danny Grayson, Lindsay Rowan Herr, our fearless cruise ship directors for ASCO25. They keep us on track, organized, prepare everything for us behind the scenes and put up with *endless* emails from me over the last year. Probably over half were not even things they were “supposed” to deal with, but they literally never complain. They run a masterclass of how to put on a meeting.
Lisa Greaves, Julia Close for their advice, wisdom, and the “why”s and science behind the scene.
Tony Schweizer, Mandy Davis-Aitken, Soumya “Sumi” Vishnu, Amanda Stanley Narod, Kristen Neese. Oh the planning of this group. Who knew Mandy gets to ASCO 2 weeks ahead and essentially lives in Chicago for weeks to assemble McCormick into the meeting venue you recognize from an empty warehouse?
Christopher Merlan. Always open to change and looking for better products and function for ASCO’s members. His team delivered the Google cloud /ASCO AI-powered Guidelines Assistant and they also completed a massive website overhaul.
Nancy Daly, Deborah Kamin Fundraising and advocacy are essential pillars for ASCO to support the advancement of cancer care. From Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation grants and merit awards to advocating for policy on Capitol Hill, they are amazing.
Clifford Hudis, Julie Gralow, Culture always begins at the top. They are driven, collaborative, wise, and can’t be ruffled. Dr. Gralow probably knows the abstracts across the whole meeting better than anyone and expertly guides the numerous press briefings. Dr. Hudis has impressed me beyond measure this year. The climate of 2025 has not been easy for an organization such as ASCO. He quickly and decisively set strategy and led with a calm resolve that has set the tone for everyone to continue with mission driven activity despite the challenges.
There are endless more fantastic people within American Society of Clinical Oncology and they work so hard this month and all year to pull off a great meeting for all of us. Thank you to them!”
