
Eduardo Bruera: Why Do Argentinian Oncologists Refer Patients Late for Palliative Care?
Eduardo Bruera, Chair of the Department of Palliative, Rehabilitation and Integrative Medicine and Medical Director of the Supportive Care Center at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Raúl A Sala et al. published in Medicina:
“Argentinian oncologists know PC benefits and have access to services, yet 55% rarely refer patients, often only for late-stage issues like uncontrolled pain. Early referral is uncommon (19%). Access to PC and knowledge boost referrals; the youngest/oldest refer least.”
