Ahmet Dirican: Does Acting on ctDNA Detection Improve NSCLC Outcomes?

One of the most important potential applications of ctDNA may be detecting recurrence before it becomes evident on imaging; however, its true clinical value will become clear only when it is shown that acting on this early signal improves patient outcomes.

In a study of 119 patients with resected NSCLC, longitudinal monitoring detected MRD in 48.1% of recurrences and became positive a median of 6.53 months before imaging. The key question is whether acting on this early signal improves patient outcomes.”
