Julia Hoveyan: A year ago, the IMMONC launched the first-ever investigator-sponsored trial in pediatric oncology in Armenia

Ruzanna Papyan recently shared a post by Julia Hoveyan, Pediatric Oncologist at the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia, on Linkedin, adding:

“Discover more about our controlled trial, exploring the effectiveness of continuous infusion of first-generation 5-HT3 receptor antagonists combined with dexamethasone in alleviating chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in pediatric cancer patients. Stay updated for developments and as our mentor often reminds us, ‘The best is yet to come!'”

Quoting Julia Hoveyan’s post:

“A year ago, the Immune Oncology Research Institute launched the first-ever investigator-sponsored trial in pediatric oncology in Armenia.

This randomized controlled trial, titled ‘Continuous Infusion of First-Generation 5-HT3 Receptor Antagonists in Combination with Dexamethasone: Can This Modality Improve the Antiemetic Effect?’ seeks to identify more effective methods for preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. Despite numerous challenges, the trial has been made possible by a dedicated and exceptional team.

Today, we are thrilled to report that, one year in, we have enrolled 23 patients and completed over 85 chemotherapy cycles. We anticipate concluding the trial and publishing our initial data by June 2025.

Thank you to the Immune Oncology Research Institute and Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia for making clinical trials real in pediatric oncology in Armenia.

The best is yet to come!”
