Chris Chukwunyere: A Major Milestone for the City Abuja in the Fight Against Cancer
Chris Chukwunyere, Co-Founder of Inspire World International Foundation and City manager Abuja for City Cancer Challenge, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A Major Milestone for the City Abuja in the Fight Against Cancer.
Creating systemic transformation takes time, long-term commitment, and unwavering collaboration.
As the Abuja City Manager for City Cancer Challenge (C/Can), I have witnessed the incredible resilience and determination of Abuja stakeholders in our mission to improve cancer care.
Two days ago, we achieved a major milestone with the inauguration of the Abuja City Executive Committee (CEC).
This inaugural meeting marked the official establishment of the CEC, which will lead the city’s sustainability planning for the C/Can initiative and oversee the development of concrete plans for continued implementation and scale-up.
The CEC, composed of key cancer care decision-makers, stakeholders, and influencers from both the private and public sectors, will be pivotal in guiding the city-wide needs assessment and ensuring ongoing engagement throughout the implementation process.
This milestone consolidates the foundation upon which the rest of the C/Can initiative will stand. I am excited about the journey ahead as we work together to conduct the city needs assessment and build upon this solid groundwork.
Special thanks to Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, the FCT Mandate Secretary, Health and Environment Secretariat, and the entire CEC members for stepping up to lead this initiative. Your leadership is invaluable.
My gratitude also goes to our consortium partners: the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Federal Ministry of Health, Clinton Health Access Initiative, and Medicaid Cancer Foundation.
Your commitment and support have been instrumental in bringing us this far.
Thank you to all stakeholder institutions and individuals who have supported this initiative from the start. Your collaboration made our stakeholder engagement phase successful.
Last but not the least, I want to thank my CEO Isabel Mestres and my Regional Director for Africa and Europe Sophie Bussman-Kemdjo for their amazing leadership, support and present at this event. You added so much colour to the inauguration meeting.
Now, with a solid foundation in place, it is time to start building. The road ahead is clear, and with the resilience of our city, I have no doubt we will transform cancer care in Abuja. Together, we can and we will.
See you all at work.”
