Oliver Bogler: What Reviewers Hate to See
Oliver Bogler, Chief Executive Officer of Night Science Institute and Strategic Advisor at Barnacle Labs, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“What Reviewers Hate to See
1. Lack of Impact
- If it’s not clear why your work is important, it won’t generate the enthusiasm needed for a good score.
2. Overambitious Aims
- Proposing too much work signals poor judgment. Focus on achievable goals within realistic timelines.
3. Methodological Gaps
- Incomplete methods indicate poor planning. Detail all critical procedures, especially for novel techniques.
4. Poor Risk Management
- Addressing potential problems shows experience. Identify specific challenges and alternative approaches for each aim.
5. Weak Team
- Expertise gaps undermine credibility. Ensure your team covers all necessary areas and functions cohesively.
