Jeffrey Lee: Very important work from Banu Arun, Weniy Wang and their team for developing new risk prediction models for Li-Fraumeni syndrome
Jeffrey Lee, Chief Cancer Network Officer and Deputy Chief Operating Officer at MD Anderson Cancer Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“We are excited to share this very important work from Banu Arun, Cancer Network Executive Director for Clinical Cancer Genetics, her colleague Wenyi Wang and their team for developing new risk prediction models for Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS), a hereditary disorder that increases the risk of multiple cancers due to TP53 gene mutations.
Drs. Arun and Wang used clinical data from 3,297 patients across 124 families to develop and validate new models to predict cancer risk in patients with either primary or multiple primary cancers. Their models showed strong accuracy in predicting TP53 mutations in patients who had not been tested, compared favorably to other models, and highlighted the importance of using detailed clinical data and improving data collection during clinic visits to enhance care for patients with hereditary cancers.
Congratulations Dr. Arun, for your strong work and studies in genetic oncology. To learn more about Dr. Arun please visit here.
