Anirban Maitra: New Discovery in Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors by Aatur Singhi
Anirban Maitra, Scientific Director of Sheikh Ahmed Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research and Professor of Pathology and Translational Molecular Pathology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, shared a post on X about a recent article by Michelle A. Wood-Trageser et al. published in Modern Pathology:
“New discovery by Aatur Singhi in Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (PanNETs).
7% of non-functioning PanNETs and 3% overall in a larger validation cohort harbor BEND2 fusions (most common partner is CHD7, followed by EWSR1).
BEND2 fusions are independent of ATRX/DAXX mutations and confer an adverse prognostic impact on natural history.”
