Quoting ASCO‘s post:
“A new article in JCO Oncology Practice (JCO OP) looks at the root causes of cancer hashtag#drugshortages in the U.S., the impact of these shortages on patients and providers, and makes recommendations to address this crisis.
The cancer community has been grappling with drug shortages since 2010, with periods of acute shortages such as in 2023. In just the last few years, around 15 cancer drugs have been in short supply.
A comprehensive approach, targeting the root causes of drug shortages, is needed to move the U.S. toward a future where people with cancer have consistent access to potentially life-saving care.
