Nazik Hammad, Medical Oncologist and Professor at the Division of Hematology and Oncology at St. Michael’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Faculty is the ultimate resource in health professions education and workforce development.
Happy to invite you to read our article just published in Journal of Cancer Education on ‘Faculty Development among African Oncologists’ We explore barriers and enablers.
This project which is a collaboration between AORTIC- Africa, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Queen’s University Global Oncology program won the IDAC grant in 2020 and despite COVID, we managed to create modules, webinars, and workshops and the most important impact is the community of practice that has emerged and will certainly continue this vital aspect of workforce development and strengthening academic oncology in Africa.
Lots of bidirectional learning as well going on.
The recent Faculty Development workshop during the Kenya Society of Haematology and Oncology (KESHO) in Kisumu brought oncologists from all over Africa further cementing this community of practice.”
