Narjust Florez: Patients with cancer are getting younger and we must do something about it
CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians shared a post on X about a paper titled “Cancer statistics, 2024” published in ASC Journal. .

“The latest cancer statistics report from American Cancer Society reveals that patients with cancer are getting younger. Proportion of diagnoses in people who are middle-aged (50-64 years) increased from 25% in 1995 to 30% in 2019-2020.”
Narjust Florez shared the post, adding:
“Data continues to show this again and again. Our patients are getting younger and we must do something about it.”

Narjust Florez is the Associate Director of the Cancer Care Equity Program and a Thoracic Medical Oncologist at the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center.
She is the principal investigator of the Sexual Health Assessment in Women with Lung Cancer (SHAWL) Study, the largest study to date evaluating sexual dysfunction in women with lung cancer. In addition, Dr. Florez founded the Florez Lab in 2019. The laboratory focuses on lung cancer, social justice issues in medicine, and medical education.
