“Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide, yet advances in early detection have the potential to change outcomes dramatically. The challenge is making sure those advances reach people wherever they live.
In recognition of World Lung Cancer Day, the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) published an article featuring Catharine Grimes, president of the BMS Foundation, an independent charitable organization funded by BMS, highlighting the Foundation’s work to strengthen health systems and expand access to lung cancer screening and early detection in Brazil, India, the United States and six countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
As a member of the UICC-led Lung Cancer Collaboration, the BMS Foundation works with grantee partners around the world to build the capacity needed for earlier detection – from community awareness and workforce development to referral pathways and diagnostic capacity.
