The Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Lung Cancer Clinical & Research Fellowship based at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary, Canada. The funded fellowship is available for 1–2 years, with one position available, and combines clinical training in thoracic oncology with research in real-world outcomes, translational oncology, and clinical trials.

The fellow will work under the mentorship of Vishal Navani, who leads the lung cancer and early-phase drug development groups. Clinical responsibilities will include caring for patients with thoracic malignancies, while research opportunities will include projects using major institutional datasets such as the Glans-Look Lung Cancer Research database, which contains more than 19,000 real-world lung cancer diagnoses.

The fellowship also offers exposure to early-phase drug development, late-phase clinical trials as a sub-investigator, biomarker research, comprehensive genomic profiling, and collaborations with the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants should have recently completed, or be close to completing, Medical Oncology training.
  • Completion of Medical Oncology training should preferably be within the past 5 years.
  • Applicants should have previously completed Internal Medicine training.
  • The fellowship is intended for candidates seeking to develop advanced expertise in thoracic oncology and clinical research.
  • Candidates interested in translational research may also benefit from collaborations with the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute.
