The Utilizing the PLCO Biospecimens Resource to Bridge Gaps in Cancer Etiology and Early Detection Research (U01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) opportunity from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) supports research using the unique biospecimens and associated data from the NCI-sponsored Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer (PLCO) Screening Trial.
The program is designed to advance research into cancer etiology, cancer risk, and early detection biomarkers using prospectively collected pre-diagnostic samples and detailed longitudinal clinical, demographic, lifestyle, and genetic data.
Eligibility Criteria
- Public and private institutions of higher education are eligible.
- Nonprofit organizations with or without 501(c)(3) status are eligible.
- Small businesses and other for-profit organizations are eligible.
- State, county, city or township, and special district governments may apply.
- Federally recognized and other eligible Native American tribal organizations may apply.
- Foreign organizations are eligible to apply.
- Foreign components of U.S. organizations are also allowed.
Funding Details
- Funding Mechanism: U01 Cooperative Agreement
- Award Amount: No fixed budget ceiling; budgets must reflect the actual needs of the proposed research.
- Maximum Project Period: 5 years
