The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Academic-Industrial Partnerships to Translate and Validate In Vivo Imaging Systems R01 Grant supports collaborations between academic and industry investigators working to translate promising imaging, spectroscopy, data science, and computational technologies into practical tools for cancer research and patient care.

Projects should build on technologies that have already demonstrated feasibility and are ready for optimization and validation. Applicants may request less than $500,000 in direct costs per year for up to five years, with the next new-application deadline on October 5, 2026. (Grants.gov)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applications must establish an academic-industrial partnership involving at least one academic investigator and one investigator from an industrial organization.
  • Eligible applicants include public and private institutions of higher education.
  • Nonprofit organizations, with or without 501(c)(3) status, may apply.
  • Foreign/non-U.S. organizations are eligible to apply.
  • Non-U.S. components of U.S. organizations and eligible foreign components are permitted.
  • Applicant organizations may submit multiple applications if each is scientifically distinct.
  • Projects without the required academic-industry partnership are considered non-responsive.
