Kids Beating Cancer is now accepting Letters of Intent for the 2025 cycle of the John Voight Memorial Leukemia Research Grant, a competitive two-tiered program totaling up to 300,000 USD over three years. This award is dedicated to accelerating the development of innovative treatments for pediatric leukemia, with a strong focus on Acute Myelocytic Leukemia (AML).

Who is eligible?

Applicants must:

  • Be based at a U.S. nonprofit or academic research institution

  • Hold an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD (or equivalent) and a faculty (or equivalent) position

  • Have a proven track record in pediatric cancer research

  • Submit original, unpublished work (conference abstracts must show significant updates)

  • Ensure no budgetary or scientific overlap with other active grants

  • Postdoctoral researchers are eligible to apply

Funding at a glance:

  • Tier 1: 100,000 USD for 1 year to demonstrate feasibility and gather pilot data

  • Tier 2: 200,000 USD for 2 years (invitation-only, contingent on Tier 1 results)

  • Funds may cover PI salary (within NIH cap), personnel, equipment, and supplies

  • Indirect costs, administrative expenses, travel, and PR costs are not allowed

Research focus:

The grant supports translational leukemia research aimed at therapeutic development, biomarker discovery, or any innovative intervention with the potential to impact pediatric AML patients within several years.
