
Curebound Equity Grants 2025: $250K to Advance Cancer Research for Underserved Populations
Curebound is accepting Letters of Intent for its 2025 Equity Grants, designed to support up to $250,000 in funding for research that improves cancer care for medically underserved and underrepresented communities. These grants fund projects that examine social, cultural, biological, and systemic barriers while advancing the implementation of effective, equitable care across settings.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must:

Hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent
-
Be an independent investigator based at one of six San Diego-area institutions:

UC San Diego (including Moores Cancer Center and UCSD Health)

Salk Institute
-
Sanford Burnham Prebys
-
Rady Children’s Hospital
-
La Jolla Institute for Immunology
-
Scripps Research
-
-
Include a Partner PI (optional but encouraged) from a different department or institution
-
Submit only one LOI per PI for this mechanism
Funding at a glance:
-
Up to 250,000 USD for one year
-
Includes direct and indirect costs (indirects capped at 30% of total)
-
Funds may support salaries (within NIH cap), supplies, reagents, and intervention development
-
Travel, tuition, and unrelated infrastructure are not allowed
Research focus:
Projects should tackle cancer inequities, including:

Population and implementation science
-
Interventions to improve access to care or trial participation
-
Studies of biological differences in cancer outcomes by race, ethnicity, or sex
-
Equity-focused diagnostics, therapeutics, and preventive strategies
-
Deployment through hospitals, clinics, digital health tools, or home monitoring
