
ACPMP Changemaker Grant: Advancing Research in Appendix Cancer and PMP
The ACPMP Research Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2025 Changemaker Research Grant, designed to fund high-impact research in appendix cancer and pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP). This rare disease-focused award seeks scientific, clinical, or translational projects with strong potential to transform understanding or treatment of appendiceal malignancies.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent) and a full-time faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher. Eligible institutions include academic, medical, or research organizations. Only one proposal per applicant is allowed per cycle. Applicants currently funded by an ACPMP Catalyst Grant are ineligible.

150,000 USD total in direct costs (no indirect costs allowed)

Must adhere to NIH salary cap

Funding cannot be used for professional memberships, conference attendance, tuition, or for-profit/government salaries

Proposals should justify budget and percent effort of all key personnel

The Foundation prioritizes proposals aligned with its Think Tank core research areas, including:

Histopathologic classification of appendix tumors

Tumor microenvironment characterization

Molecular profiling and therapeutic targeting

Disease modeling and repositories
-
Clinical trials and population-level studies
Eligible cancer types include appendiceal mucinous neoplasms, appendiceal adenocarcinomas (e.g., signet ring cell, goblet cell), and PMP of appendiceal origin.
