The NIH-supported Summer Oncology Research Fellowship (SORF) at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Keck School of Medicine provides first- and second-year medical students with immersive research experience in oncology. The program combines mentorship, hands-on research, and professional development in a collaborative team science environment.
Eligibility Criteria:

Open to medical students between their first and second year.

Must demonstrate interest in biomedical or cancer research.

Must be available full-time for the summer program (8–15 weeks).

Required documents include a personal statement, CV, two letters of recommendation, verification of school enrollment, and availability.
Funding Details:

Duration: 8–15 weeks (mid-May to mid-August 2026).

Stipend: 600 USD per week.

Travel and housing assistance available for qualifying students.

Up to 20 fellows are selected each year.

Fellows receive guidance from experienced mentors and participate in lectures, lab work, site visits, and poster/oral presentations.
