Garron Family Cancer Centre Research Fellowship

Two-year, research-focused fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children’s Garron Family Cancer Centre (GFCC) designed to develop clinician-investigators/clinician-scientists in oncology. Fellows conduct cancer-related basic or clinical research under world-class supervision, participate in GFCC research seminars, and maintain up to 20% protected clinical activity.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Clinical fellow who has completed core clinical training by the fellowship start date.

  • Apply in the year prior to planned research activities.

  • Identified supervisor and primary project at time of application.

  • Research must be cancer-related.

  • Fellowship typically starts July 1 (off-cycle starts may be considered).

Funding Details:

  • Stipend: $98,566/year plus modified benefits (two-year term).

  • Supervisor contribution: $22,000 toward salary (offset if fellow secures external funding).

  • Restriction: GFCC Fellows cannot hold CSTP funding concurrently with the GFCC Research Fellowship.

  • Clinical commitment: Up to 20% of time per year in clinical activities.

  • Oversight: Formal Fellowship Oversight Committee (supervisor + at least 2 mentors for clinical/career and research guidance).

Deadline:

  • For July 1, 2026 start: October 3, 2025, 11:59 p.m. (via RTC CSTP application).

  • Deferral: Possible up to 1 year with written notice signed by fellow and supervisor.
