University of Wisconsin Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship

Two-year, ACGME-accredited CGSO fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics/Carbone Cancer Center accepting one fellow every other year. Training includes 20 months of clinical rotations (breast, GI, melanoma, sarcoma, endocrine, colorectal, medical and radiation oncology, pathology) and 4 months of protected research. Highlights include an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, a VA continuity clinic spanning two years, multi-institutional didactics, robust research infrastructure, optional international rotations, and opportunities for robotic and simulation training.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited general surgery residency in the U.S. or RCPSC-accredited program in Canada.

  • Participation via ERAS; program will be in the 2026 match for an August 1, 2027 start (NRMP timelines apply).

  • Non–U.S. citizens must hold a Green Card or qualify for a J-1 Alien Physician visa.

Funding Details:

  • 2024–2025 UW stipend levels: PGY-6 $86,556; PGY-7 $91,648 (adjusted annually).

  • Conference travel supported when presenting fellow-led research.
