Today our guest is Giuseppe Curigliano, who shared insights on his role as a mentor in oncology, his vision if elected as ESMO president, and his extensive leadership experience. We also delved into the future of precision medicine and the impact of AI in oncology.
Giuseppe Curigliano
Giuseppe Curigliano, MD, PhD, is the Director of the Early Drug Development Division and co-chairs the Experimental Therapeutics Program at the European Institute of Oncology.
He is a member of the Department of Oncology and Hemato-Oncology’s steering committee at the University of Milan and serves on the Italian National Health Council, advising the Ministry of Health on cancer policy issues.
Dr. Curigliano has international experience, having worked at Columbia University’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in New York and as a visiting scholar at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School in Boston. He co-directed the Division of Medical Oncology at the European Institute of Oncology until 2014.
Within the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), he has held several key roles, including Chair of the ESMO Nomination Committee (2018-2021) and Chair of the ESMO Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee (2020-2023).
Professor Curigliano serves on the editorial boards of several international oncology journals, including the European Journal of Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Annals of Oncology. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of ESMO Open.
Recently he has been elected as the ESMO President for 2027-2028.
Chandler Park
Dr. Chandler Park is a Triple Board Certified Physician specializing in Hematology, Internal Medicine, and Medical Oncology. Currently, he practices as an oncologist in Louisville, Kentucky, and is affiliated with several local hospitals, including Baptist Health Hardin and Norton Hospitals. Additionally, Dr. Park serves as a medical school professor at the University of Kentucky College.
Dr. Park is the Advisory Dean and a clinical medical school professor at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He is also a Board Member of the Kentucky Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Treasurer of the American College of Physicians, and a Manuscript Reviewer for the Journal of Hospital Practice.
As a cancer expert for the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Dr. Park provides continuing medical education (CME) updates for practicing oncologists.
Dr. Park’s original cancer research has been published three times in the New England Journal of Medicine, where he served as Principal Investigator and Author.
In his free time, Dr. Park enjoys playing golf, traveling, and spending time with his family.
