World Radiotherapy Awareness Day, shared on LinkedIn:
“Greece joins together for World Radiotherapy Awareness Day 2026!
At Theagenio Cancer Hospital in Thessaloniki, patients and radiotherapy professionals came together to celebrate WRAD and raise awareness of the vital role radiotherapy plays in cancer care.
A highlight of the celebrations was the ‘WRAD Tree’ where patients and staff added leaves carrying personal messages of hope, strength and support.
From sharing educational resources to celebrating the dedicated multidisciplinary team, this wonderful initiative showed how a local celebration can contribute to a global movement.

What is World Radiotherapy Awareness Day?
WRAD is a global campaign held annually on September 7 to raise awareness of radiotherapy’s essential role in cancer treatment.
It highlights how radiotherapy
- can cure cancer
- relieve symptoms
- improve patients’ quality of life
while addressing barriers to accessing this treatment worldwide.
WRAD educates healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers and policymakers about radiotherapy’s benefits and the need for adequate investment and a skilled workforce.
Its 2025–2027 theme is ‘One Voice for Radiotherapy’.
