Rob Pieters Recognized among The 100 Most Influential People in Oncology in 2025

Rob Pieters is a pediatric oncologist at the Princess Máxima Center in the Netherlands, Chief Máxima International, and the President of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP). One of the initiators and founders of the Princess Máxima Center, he helped consolidate expertise from the Netherlands’ seven former childhood cancer centers, establishing one of the largest pediatric cancer centers in Europe for treatment and research. His research focuses on personalized therapies for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).

Prof. Pieters holds multiple international leadership roles, including membership on the EU Cancer Mission Board and SIOP-Europe, Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Cancer – Pediatric Oncology. In 2018, he received a Royal knighthood (Officer in the Order of Oranje Nassau) for his contributions to children with cancer, and his current focus is advancing international collaboration to improve survival, survivorship, and equity in access to high-quality care and research.
