Françoise Meunier, Founder of the European Initiative on Ending Discrimination Against Cancer Survivors, shared on LinkedIn:
“Four days left to the High-Level Conference on the Right to Be Forgotten, Ending Discrimination Against Cancer survivors!
Adopting the Right to Be Forgotten is an important step, but legislation alone is not enough. The real test is whether cancer survivors can understand their rights, use them in practice and receive fair and consistent treatment from insurers and financial institutions. This will be the focus on Session IV: ‘Best Practices: From Adoption to Implementation’ at our High-Level Conference on 21 October.
I am very pleased that this session will bring together experiences from countries at different stages of implementation, together with Dr Iris Pauporté, Prof. Maëlle De Ville De Goyet, Dr Irina Odnoletkova, Delia Nicoară, Dr Corinne Pace and Dr Amanda Spiteri Grech.
The session will investigate on what is needed to keep the RTBF effective, with robust data, a regular review of medical evidence, reference grids, and the political and institutional commitment needed to adopt legal protection into practice.
