Christian Ntizimira, Executive Director of ACREOL, shared on X:
“The Conversations Medical School Never Prepared Us For!
Who cares for the women who care for others?
Inspired by Women in Palliative Care Switzerland (WIPS), a movement born at Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), where women physicians in Palliative Care come together to share the realities of balancing their professional responsibilities, personal lives, and everything they were never prepared for in medical school.
ACREOL Global brought this inspiration to Rwanda!
For the first time, we gathered young women studying medicine, pharmacy, and public health for an open, honest, and inspiring conversation, guided by Dr. Elke Stenfert, a palliative care physician from the Netherlands.
And one thing became clear: Behind every white coat is a woman with a story that deserves to be heard.
From unspoken pressures to personal struggles, laughter, and shared experiences, this gathering reminded us that sometimes, the most important conversation is the one we haven’t had yet.
Thank you to Lisa Hentsch and the WIPS team for inspiring this initiative. We look forward to welcoming you to Rwanda for another chapter of these meaningful conversations!
Because caring for others should never mean forgetting ourselves.”
