Binay Shah Recognized Among The 100 Most Influential CEOs in Oncology in 2025

Binay Shah is a hematologist/oncologist and co‑founder of Binaytara, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to reducing cancer health disparities through education, advocacy, clinical care and innovation. Shah co‑founded the organisation with his wife, Tara Shah, in 2007 with a mission to improve access to evidence‑based cancer care and healthcare education in underserved regions globally. Under his leadership, Binaytara has become a recognised provider of continuing medical education in hematology and oncology, organising accredited conferences and educational initiatives for healthcare professionals in the United States and beyond. The organisation’s work extends across advocacy, research and healthcare delivery to bridge gaps in cancer care access.

Under Shah’s guidance, Binaytara established a 25‑bed cancer hospital in Janakpur, Nepal — the only cancer centre serving Madhesh Province and neighbouring regions — bringing essential diagnostics, treatment and palliative services close to home for patients who previously travelled long distances for care. The organisation also helped support the development of Nepal’s first bone marrow transplant centre in Kathmandu in partnership with local and international institutions and continues to pursue expansion projects, including plans for a larger cancer hospital to further strengthen local oncology infrastructure. Binaytara’s initiatives in cancer screening, education, training and community engagement reflect its role in addressing cancer disparities in resource‑limited settings.

The 100 CEOs featured here reflect the diversity and complexity of modern oncology leadership. In 2025, some lead the world’s largest cancer institutions; others guide specialized societies or emerging innovators. What unites them is responsibility: for millions of patients, for the integrity of science, and for the future direction of cancer care globally.

This list is not a celebration of power, but a recognition of stewardship, accountability, and impact – and of the leaders whose choices continue to shape the fight against cancer. For the many deserving individuals not mentioned in this list, we will continue to acknowledge, honor and elevate your voices in our daily publications from across the world.
