“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Clinical Fellow in Proton Beam Radiotherapy at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust!”

Maria Chiara Lo Greco’s contribution to radiotherapy

  • Paediatric radiotherapy quality assurance: Through her EORTC Research Fellowship, she contributed to radiotherapy quality assurance across QUARTET-affiliated clinical trials, supporting efforts to improve treatment consistency in paediatric oncology.
  • Radiotherapy planning for sarcomas: She worked on improving target-volume delineation guidelines and resources for rhabdomyosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma, helping standardise radiotherapy planning for children with these cancers.
  • Reirradiation in paediatric brain tumours: She co-authored research investigating repeated radiotherapy in children with progressive diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), examining its feasibility, safety, clinical response, and potential survival benefits.
  • International scientific collaboration: She contributed to the EORTC Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group and presented her research at international conferences, including SIOPE and ESTRO.
  • Advancing radiotherapy evidence: Her research also addresses treatment optimisation in other cancer types, including hypofractionated radiotherapy for prostate cancer and radiotherapy combined with immunotherapy for advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
