2025 FASCO Recipients Part – 1
The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) recently released the FASCO recipients for 2025.
The FASCO (Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology) distinction, introduced in 2007 and previously known as the ASCO Statesman Award, recognizes members for their exceptional volunteer service, involvement, and dedication to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Association for Clinical Oncology.
This prestigious honor is designed to celebrate the most engaged ASCO members, inspiring others to actively participate in ASCO activities.
To earn the FASCO title, members must accumulate at least 100 points through various volunteer and engagement efforts.
The 2025 FASCO recipients are:
1. Jeanny B. Aragon-Ching, MD, FACP, FASCO: Dr. Aragon-Ching is a medical oncologist specializing in genitourinary cancers. She serves as the Clinical Program Director of Genitourinary Cancers at the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Virginia. Her research focuses on prostate and bladder cancers, and she has contributed extensively to clinical trials and publications in these areas.
2. Himisha Beltran, MD, FASCO: Dr. Beltran is a medical oncologist with expertise in prostate cancer. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Her research involves understanding the molecular mechanisms of prostate cancer progression and developing targeted therapies.
3. Kathleen E. Bickel, MD, FACP, MPhil, FASCO: Dr. Bickel is a hematologist-oncologist with a focus on palliative care and medical ethics. She practices at the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center and holds an academic appointment at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Her interests include improving communication between patients and healthcare providers and integrating palliative care into oncology practice.
4. Sam Brondfield, MD, MA, FASCO: Dr. Brondfield is a medical oncologist specializing in hematologic malignancies. He practices at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research focuses on medical education, patient-centered care, and improving outcomes for patients with blood cancers.
5. Shirish M. Gadgeel, MD, FASCO: Dr. Gadgeel is a thoracic oncologist specializing in lung cancer. He is the Chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the Henry Ford Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan. His research interests include developing novel therapies for lung cancer and conducting clinical trials to improve patient outcomes.
6. Sanjay Goel, MD, MS, FASCO: Dr. Goel is a medical oncologist with expertise in gastrointestinal cancers. He is a Professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and practices at the Montefiore Medical Center in New York. His research focuses on translational studies and clinical trials aimed at developing new treatments for colorectal and pancreatic cancers.
7. Michael S. Gordon, MD, FASCO: Dr. Gordon is a medical oncologist specializing in early-phase clinical trials and drug development. He is the Medical Director of the HonorHealth Research Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona. His work involves bringing novel cancer therapies from the laboratory to the clinic, with a focus on targeted treatments and immunotherapies.
8. Stacy W. Gray, MD, FASCO: Dr. Gray is a medical oncologist and health services researcher. She is the Deputy Director, Center for Precision Medicine at City of Hope. Her research examines the integration of genomic technologies into cancer care and the impact of these technologies on patient outcomes and healthcare delivery.
9. Arjun Gupta, MD, FASCO: Dr. Gupta is a medical oncologist with a focus on gastrointestinal cancers. He practices at the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center. His research interests include cancer cachexia, patient-reported outcomes, and improving the quality of care for patients with cancer.
10. Richard M. Ingram, MD, FASCO: Dr. Ingram is a medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer. He practices at the Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina. His clinical interests include developing personalized treatment plans for patients with breast cancer and participating in clinical trials to advance breast cancer therapy.
