Zacharoula Sidiropoulou: Prevention is Always Better Than Treatment
Zacharoula Sidiropoulou, Senior Consultant Breast Surgical Oncologist at Hospital São Francisco Xavier, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Prevention is always better than treatment – 40% of cancers can be prevented through healthy choices such as not smoking, maintaining an adequate weight, exercising and following a balanced diet.
Self-care is the foundation of effective prevention: each additional healthy habit reduces the risk of cancer by 8%, and those who practice the top 5 preventive behaviors (not smoking, adequate weight, exercise, healthy diet, and limited alcohol consumption) are 32% less likely to develop cancer – proving that prevention through self-care is much more effective than treating the disease.

Let’s talk about Self-Care and Breast Cancer in young women in the auditorium of the NOVA Medical School school building attached to the São Francisco Xavier Hospital.”
