“I am deeply appreciative of the chance to serve as a Trustee for CupArise CIO, an inspiring charity that plays a pivotal role in transforming the lives of women.

CupArise is committed to empowering women by providing vital information and resources that enable them to make timely decisions regarding their breast health. One of the flagship initiatives, the Mami App, is specifically designed to break down the barriers that prevent early detection of breast cancer.

By offering accessible tools and information, the app aims to enhance support and connect users to healthcare resources, particularly in low-income countries where these services are often lacking. This innovative approach not only raises awareness but also significantly improves health outcomes for women who might otherwise face significant challenges in accessing care.

Founded by Mercy Ofuya — a distinguished medical statistician and the proud winner of the 2023 Vanessa Moss Prize—CupArise is grounded in expertise and a passion for making a difference.

As I embark on this journey with CupArise, I am excited about the possibilities ahead and am committed to enhancing the well-being and health outcomes of women globally. Together, we can create a future where every woman has the knowledge and support necessary to prioritize her breast health.”

Olubukola Ayodele is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, specializing in breast and genitourinary malignancies, including germ cell tumors. She is also an honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester and heads the Breast Cancer Clinical Trials Unit at the Leicester Cancer Research Centre. Dr. Ayodele’s work includes numerous publications, clinical trials, and collaborative research projects on molecular drivers and biomarkers in breast cancer.
